Once covered by euphoria for the launch of the iPhone model 2017, Samsung still gets consumers' attention for its newest leading phablet, the Galaxy Note 8. Officially available in the South Korean market on Friday, Samsung reportedly sold 270,000 units over the weekend.

On the day of its availability announcement, the three major South Korean mobile operators SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus recorded 200 thousand orders of Samsung Galaxy Note 8, with an additional 70 thousand units the following day.

The amount is higher when compared with its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 7 which on the day of the announcement last year, recorded orders totaling 160 thousand units in South Korea.

However, this device then experienced a recall due to problems in the battery causing the incident burned the device.

Meanwhile at the beginning of this year, Samsung Galaxy S8 was recorded sold as many as 260 thousand units in the first sale on the day of its launch in South Korea.

During the pre-order period, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is booked as many as 850 thousand units, higher than the 380 thousand units of Galaxy Note 7 orders in the previous year.

South Korean analysts predict the smooth journey that will be taken by the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 thanks to the late launch of the smartphone edition iPhone 10th anniversary celebration as well as Apple's flagship model, the iPhone X.

For additional information, iPhone X will not be available in the market until November 3, while an analyst named Lee Soon-rights from Hanhwa Investment and Securities predicts Samsung will distribute up to 12 million units of Galaxy Note 8, beating the achievement of Samsung Galaxy Note 5 in 2015, which sold 8.5 million units.
