International Data Corporation (IDC) research institute at the end of April announced the results of its research related to the sales and distribution of global smartphones. A total of 347.4 million smartphones are marketed by smartphone manufacturers worldwide in the first quarter of 2017, up 4 percent from the same period last year.

The 4 percent growth for smartphone sales in early 2017 exceeded previous IDC predictions of 3.6 percent.

With consumer demand for smartphones increasing this year, Vivo Smartphone began to position itself as one of the top five largest smartphone manufacturers in the world, under Samsung, Apple, Huawei, Oppo.


Shifting Lenovo and Xiaomi, Vivo successfully delivered 18.1 million smartphones worldwide and increased its market share to 5.2 percent in the first quarter of 2017, after a percentage of 4.3 percent in 2016.

Vivo builds its first local plant in 2016 in Cikupa, Tangerang and exceeds the Domestic Composition Level (TKDN) with a percentage of 32 percent in early 2017.

Latest, Vivo announced it will open its second factory next year and ready to record the percentage of 40 percent TKDN at the end of 2017.
