Termination support for push notification is valid from February 20, 2018. In other words, users of Windows Phone 7.5 and Windows Phone 8 devices can no longer receive notifications directly.
Not only that, the Live Tile feature that characterizes Windows Phone is also officially switched off. Just information, Live Tile is a typical Windows Phone display that displays information from apps on the device and is updated regularly.
"Windows Phone 7.5 and Windows Phone 8.0 have reached the end of their support period, so the service for this version of Windows will be stopped periodically," Windows wrote in a statement.
Then, the feature 'Find My Phone' also no longer works in the two operating systems. However, the latest version of Windows Phone, such as Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 10 Mobile is still fully supported.
Therefore, devices running both systems can still receive notifications including information from Live Tiles.
Microsoft itself in the last year has indeed announced the termination of support for its mobile operating system. Starting from the official Windows Phone 8.1 will stop supported in July 2017.
Then in October 2017, Microsoft also mentioned no longer will bring updates for Windows 10 Mobile.
Through a series of tweets in his personal account, Microsoft's VP Operating System Group, Joe Belfiore, admitted the operating system was no longer a focus.
According Belfiore, this operating system has entered the stage of servicing mode. That is, Microsoft will only release security updates and patches for bugs, without any new features being embedded.
