Apple's Acquisition of Wireless Charger Companies PowerbyProxi

Apple is reported to have acquired a wireless charging technology development firm called PowerbyProxi, with an undisclosed transaction value. The company was founded in 2007 by entrepreneur named Fady Mishriki. PowerbyProxi is a company focused on the standard Qi-sized model, enabling the transfer of power wirelessly to larger devices such as robots, drones and health equipment.

Confirmation from Apple, delivered by Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering Apple, Dan Riccio.

Riccio said, Ricardo PowerbyProxi assessed team can be a support that will greatly assist Apple in developing the device and wireless technology of the future. With the launch of iPhone 8, iPhone X, and Apple Watch Series 3 in September, Apple also announced its vision to simplify charging technologies that are compatible with Qi industry standards.


In addition, this acquisition also confirmed its decision to eliminate the headphone jack on the device, as well as its investment in the field of Bluetooth accessories. Apple also plans to release a charging pad, scheduled for launch next year.

The charging pad will be called AirPower, which will simultaneously charge iPhone and Apple Watch with glassy body bodies, as well as wireless AirPods earbuds. However, Apple is still reluctant to share information related to the collaboration that will run with PowerbyProxi.


Meanwhile, due to problems related to the production of iPhone X, KGI Securities predicts that Foxconn will only distribute as many as 25-30 million units of iPhone X in the fourth quarter of 2017.

Earlier, KGI Securities analyst Ming-chi Kuo said about 30-35 million devices will be distributed by the end of 2017.

Following in the footsteps Apple contributed its hand to help storm survivors in Puerto Rico by opening LTE band 8 access. LTE band 8 is the network used by Project Loon to provide Puerto Rico mobile network services when the infrastructure is re-built.
