Apple CEO Tim Cook says app developers earn $ 17 Billion from the App Store China

Apple CEO Tim Cook
Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the number of Chinese developers using the Apple platform has reached 1.8 million people, and has received a total of CNY 112 billion ($ 16.93 billion), contributing about a quarter of the total App Store revenue in the world.

Cook announced this yesterday, in a public forum of cyber regulations in China organized by the Cybersecurity Administration of China (CAC). CAC is the body responsible for internet regulation, including censorship. Prior to this, Apple said that through AppStore, developers have earned more than $ 70 billion.

Apple has been criticized by local users and human rights groups for submitting to Chinese cyber regulators.

They remove hundreds of apps from the App Store in China, including messenger applications and Virtual Private Network (VPN) service providers that help users avoid government censorship, which is also often called "Great Firewall".

Apple considers China as the third largest market by sales. However, lately, Apple's market share began to decline after local smartphone makers began to gain momentum.

The iPhone maker is hoping they will regain momentum after launching the iPhone 8 and iPhone X available on the market in November. The Cupertino-based company also mentioned that they have transferred Chinese cloud data to servers owned by local colleagues in Guizhou province.
