Porsche is developing a flying car that passengers can ride

A sports car maker, Porsche will probably make a drone that can carry passengers. Sales Chief, Porsche, Detlev von Platen said in a German magazine their goal is to compete with an application-based transportation company for the flying taxi market that is expected to grow in the future.

"That makes sense: If I go from Zuffenhausen's (Porsche factory) to Stuttgart airport, I need at least half an hour, that's if I'm lucky," von Platen said. "By flying, I only take three and a half minutes."

Porsche will be one of many companies interested in developing flying cars. Allegedly, the transportation market will change in the future, from ordinary cars to autonomous cars whose services will be provided by application-based transportation companies. Automotive companies are trying to develop flying cars to anticipate such changes.

Last year, Italdesign and Airbus showcased the concept of a flying car named Pop.Up that exhibited in the Geneva Motor Show. Pop.Up is a modular vehicle that can be used both on land and in the air.

According to the German magazine report, Porsche plans to create a vehicle that can operate automatically.

Granted, passengers can still control the vehicle, but they will not need a pilot's license to fly it because most of the functions on the car are automatic.
