Xiaomi will add gesture control feature to Mi MIX and Mi MIX 2, and Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus

Xiaomi is testing the new gesture control feature for some of its smartphone models. The feature known as Full Display Gesture is included in the latest version of MIUI 9. This feature allows users to access the homescreen by wiping from the bottom of the screen to the top. Additionally, swiping from the bottom and then holding for one second will open up the Recents tab.

By rubbing the screen from left or right to the center will display back the previous page. Xiaomi's new gesture feature is thought to be inspired from a similar feature that Apple presented on the iPhone X, as a compensation for the removal of the Home button.

This full-screen gesture feature will be introduced for the first time on Xiaomi's flagship smartphone, the Mi MIX and Mi MIX 2, as well as on two devices in its midline, Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus.

Previously, Xiaomi also reportedly started rolling Oreo Android operating system updates to a number of Mi A1 devices, although still in beta. The speed of receiving these updates because Mi A1 is a result of collaboration tools Xiaomi and Google in the Android One project.
