Small changes related to Samsung's business structure are aimed at responding rapidly to market changes, Samsung Electronics said in an official statement.
This step Samsung took after they appointed a new generation of Samsung executives. Earlier concern surfaced because of the vacancy of the leader's position after Vice Chairman Jay Y. Lee was arrested.
The new AI center will be a joint research center for mobile and consumer electronics division, two of Samsung's three main businesses. The South Korean company did not say where the research center is located.
Samsung Electronics also strengthens the role of Chief Strategy Officer Young Sohn in business development to seek new business opportunities related to components as well as business concerning mobile and consumer electronics.
Sohn leads Samsung's $ 8 billion acquisition of Harman International. The acquisition was approved in November last year.
