Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD, Spanish Data Protection Agency) found 3 cases when Facebook did not provide enough information to users regarding how information about gender, confidence, personal taste and browsing history will be used.
Facebook also does not seem to tell users how data collected from cookies that contain "Like" will be used.
Even if you do not have a Facebook account, the giant social media is rumored to keep collecting data related to your habits of surfing the internet through the emoji thumb.
AEPD also found that Facebook stores user data for more than 17 months even after the person closes his account.
The amount of penalties imposed by AEPD is small, especially when compared to the EUR 110 million penalty imposed on WhatsApp but their decision is proof that the Spanish government will not be silent if a company uses its citizens data illegally.
