BlackBerry Priv Not Given Android Nougat

BlackBerry Priv
Two years ago, BlackBerry launched Priv which became its first Android smartphone. Device with a slider-type QWERTY keyboard that originally run the Android OS 5 Lollipop which last year updated to Android 6 Marshmallow.

Update the BlackBerry Priv operating system stops there. This is revealed by General Manager of BlackBerry Mobility Solutions, Alex Thurber, when speaking in a podcast. Thurber said that Priv will continue running Marshmallow until the EOL (end-of-life).

He also has not been able to confirm whether the DTEK device series will be updated to Android Nougat, as DTEK is a test-based design-based testing tool from its BlackBerry manufacturing partner, TCL.

What about other Android devices from BlackBerry? The fate of the newest BlackBerry KEYone turned out better. This device will certainly get an update to the operating system Android 8 Oreo.

The next mobile phones from BlackBerry collaboration with TCL will also run Android Oreo, or at least Nougat which can be updated to newer OS later.

Although the operating system is no longer updated, BlackBerry will continue to provide support for Priv device owners, as well as DTEK50 and DTEK60.
