Facebook has acquired a startup to help crack down on users who share pirated movies and other content without permission. Source3 builds technology to detect intellectual property shared by unauthorized internet users.
Facebook acquired the technology and some of the team members behind Source3, who announced the deal on its website. A
Facebook spokesperson declined to comment on the deal, although Source3
recently earned US $ 4 million in venture capital funding, according to
Crunchbase.
Facebook has had many problems with pirated content in the past, and it has been going on for two years since the company first announced "Rights Manager", a technology to detect and remove video clips shared by people who do not own the rights to the video. Which is similar, though more advanced, called Content ID.
In April, Facebook added another option for rightsholders: submit to the original content owner to lower or leave it, and earn money from pirated movie views for original movie owners.

However, video makers do not want to keep giving their videos to Facebook if people can easily steal them and benefit from it.

York, although it is unknown how many workers were hired.
