Facebook promises to use renewable energy by 2020

Facebook announced that it will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 75 percent and will make their operation in order to use 100 percent renewable energy by the end of 2020. This is part of their efforts overcame changing weather. Social media companies that have signed contracts to use more than 3 gigawatts of solar and wind energy since they started their efforts to combat changes weather in 2013, report The Verge.

A network of power plants, wind power, and solar was built on the same network with the Facebook data center, including a data center in Oregon, Virginia, New Mexico in the United States and the data center in Sweden.

Facebook said they had hit the target they made in 2015, i.e., to use renewable energy to 50 percent of its facilities at the beginning of 2018. In the past year, the use of the renewable power they will reach 51 percent. Just like Facebook, many technology companies are trying to use renewable energy.

In June, Samsung's promise that they will ensure that their facilities in the United States, Europe, and China will use renewable energy in 2020. Both Apple and Google also use renewable energy, good wind farms or solar power
