Bad news for Sony Mobile fans in the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa: I'm hearing that the company will "shut down its operations and offices" in the region by October.— Evan Blass (@evleaks) 27 Juni 2018
Statements from Android Police, Sony Mobile will close its operations in the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa.
"I heard the company will stop operations and offices in the region starting in October," wrote @evleaks account.
However, not yet certain whether the tweet from Evan is true.
Sony itself until now has not provided an official statement related to the closing of the company's operations in a number of countries.
Rumors seemed to affirm the previous news that called Sony no longer expect much in the smartphone business.
It is known from the statement of new CEO Sony Kenichiro Yoshida last month. At that time, he has announced the company's plans for the next three years, which include the dependence of revenue growth from the business subscription game and entertainment.
He is considered to provide revenue signals from the side of content, software, and services more important, given the hardware business is declining.
