This cooperation is considered to threaten US consumers and national security, given the allegations that Huawei has a relationship with the Chinese government.
The letter also mentions Google's decision to terminate its contract with the US Department of Defense to provide Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Project Maven. Google's involvement in the project caused controversy among its employees as well as academics.
"We encourage you to consider Google's partnership with Huawei, especially after your company recently refused to renew an important research partnership, Project Maven, with the Department of Defense," the letter said.
"Although we regret that Google does not want to continue the long and fruitful tradition of collaboration between the military and technology companies, we are more disappointed that Google prefers to support the Chinese Communist Party than the US military," the letter continued.
This letter is a bipartisan effort signed by the senators and members of the House of Representatives of the Republicans and Democrats. "Congress is considering a number of bipartisan steps to address the threat from Huawei," the legislator wrote in the letter.
"In the coming months, the federal government will take further steps to protect the telecommunications network from Huawei and similar companies," the letter said.
Google itself says it will respond to all questions that legislators ask. "Like any other US company, we have agreements with dozens of OEMs around the world, including Huawei," said a representative from Google.
"We do not grant specific access to Google user data as part of this agreement, and our agreement includes the privacy and protection of user data security," he said.
