Samsung is sued for biometric patent infringement regarding fingerprint scanner

Samsung obtains lawsuits related to patent infringement of PACid Technologies. Companies engaged in the field of technology associated with this encryption claims Samsung uses three biometric patents without a license.

Two of the three patents are registered in the United States, while the third patent is registered in South Korea, and all three of these patents are related to encryption technology.

The lawsuit accuses Samsung of using patents to help develop fingerprint, face and iris scanning technology.

Specific phone names mentioned in the suit include Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, Samsung Galaxy S6 edge +, Samsung Galaxy S7, Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, Samsung Galaxy S8, and Samsung Galaxy S8 +.


PACid Technologies also claims that all three mentioned patents have been violated by Samsung PASS identity management service and Samsung KNOX mobile enterprise security system. The lawsuit was filed April 6 in the Texas Eastern District Court.

For information, PACid is known as a patent troll, which is delivered on the company's website page. Recent reports indicate that PACid Technologies is seeking a $ 2.8 billion compensation from Samsung.
