In October 2017, it was rumored that Samsung is preparing an update for its virtual assistant. Called as Bixby 2.0, this update is rumored to be turning Bixby into an artificial intelligence tool (AI) that is expected to complement the lives of users.

The new Bixby will come along with the software development kit, allowing third-party developers and manufacturers to connect their devices to Samsung's AI. In an interview at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018, Samsung Mobile CEO DJ Koh also discussed about this virtual assistant.

Koh mentioned that expansion became Samsung's focus on his first-generation virtual assistant, Bixby 1.0. At that time, Samsung wants the virtual assistant is available in many devices first. Only then will they seek to expand from the ecosystem in the future.

Meanwhile, there are now more than 800 companies trying to develop Bixby 2.0. According to DJ Koh, a new version of the virtual assistant will be ready for launch at the launch of Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

Bixby 2.0 promises a more natural sound output. In addition, the new version of Bixby also mentioned will be able to understand and bring the conversation better. Bixby 2.0 also called will be able to recognize a different sound, similar to Google Assistant.

In addition, Samsung plans to bring it all across its homemade devices, including TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, PCs and smart speakers. Samsung is also rumored to be launching new speakers later this year, believed to be part of the launch of Galaxy Note 9 and Bixby 2.0.
