According to Counterpoint research company data, 2017 is a good year for HMD Global and the Nokia brand. This mobile phone brand is reportedly able to sell as many as 4.4 million units of mobile phones in the fourth quarter of 2017.

Not able to beat Apple and Samsung, this achievement is considered better when compared with the data of most other manufacturers such as HTC, Sony, Google, Alcatel, Lenovo, OnePlus, Gionee, Meizu, Coolpad, and ASUS.

This sales achievement rewards Nokia with a 15 percent market share for feature phones and one percent for the smartphone market. Combined, HMD Global and Nokia have a market share of five percent of the total smartphone market.

The most important market for Nokia during the fourth quarter of 2017 is the UK, as one of three markets with the most popular smartphone sales. However, Nokia's strength is seen thanks to the huge market for its feature phones that are popular in most of Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

After securing the feature phone market, HMD Global and Nokia are considered to be focused on reaching a larger smartphone market share, as it is important to encourage a positive brand image and presence for Nokia.
