
Last week, Google reportedly invested a $ 1.2 billion investment in Go-Jek along with Meituan-Dianping from China and Temasek from Singapore. Go-Jek has been discussing the investment since last April. With this latest fresh funding, Go-Jek now has a valuation of US $ 4 billion.
This is the first investment from Google in Indonesia after they invested in India in December 2017. Go-Jek not only offers transportation services such as ojeks and taxis, but also other services such as courier, delivery of food and as well as mobile payments. In Indonesia, Go-Jek is said to dominate the market, defeating Uber and Grab.
Indonesia is a country with the largest economy in Southeast Asia, an area with more than 600 million consumers and a rising rate of internet adoption.
