Differences OLED and AMOLED smartphone screen

OLED vs AMOLED
Surely you guys often or have heard the term OLED and AMOLED screen, or maybe one of them. On this occasion I will try to explain the difference between OLED and AMOLED screen. AMOLED screen is usually used by smarphone flagship on Samsung. While the current OLED screen we can see on the screen smarphone LG with LG V30 series.

Basically AMOLED is one of a kind OLED, so the OLED screen has several different types and AMOLED is a type of OLED display. The word AMOLED stands for Active Matrix. Active Matrix is the opposite of previously used technology on other OLED screens that use Passive Matrix.

The difference is Active Matrix using single pixels in displaying each pixel, when the screen is lit on all pixels on the screen do not need to be active all or all on. So on the screen with black can be really black because the black part can turn off pixel or not electrically powered. Because the AMOLED screen is also more energy efficient because the AMOLED screen can do life and death on each part of the pixel. So the difference between AMOLED and OLED is on the pixel activation method part of the screen, if AMOLED is activated actively while OLED is a passive activation standard.

Differences in OLED, OLED stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode, which is a type of LED technology that uses organic methods. The advantages of OLED compared to the LCD screen is, OLED screen does not require a light layer behind the screen. Because of its own OLED layer it is able to emit a bright enough light to make the screen we can see comfortably. If you ever dismantle smarphone with LCD screen usually behind it there is a reflector layer and also a lighting layer to make the screen brighter. So, OLED technology does not require that luminous layer.
