Uber started operations in London 5 years ago. However, they do not face competition like in other cities. While in the United States, Lyft is Uber's main competitor.
Explaining his decision not to renew the Uber license, the Transport Agency for London (TfL) said that "Uber's approach and character indicates a lack of corporate responsibility regarding issues that could impact public safety and security."
The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan supports this decision. "All companies in London must abide by the rules and meet the high standards we expect particularly regarding customer safety," Khan said on Friday. "Providing innovative services should not sacrifice customer safety and convenience."
