The US and Russia will Cooperate to Create a Space Station on the Moon

The US and Russian space agencies, NASA and Roscosmos, have signed a statement indicating that they are willing to work together at the space station in the months ahead. The agreement shows the same vision to send a manned team to explore the solar system. However, the document does not discuss the exact plan or funding of the mission.

In addition, the two space agencies are also not promising commitment to build the space station in question.

This document was signed at the 68th International Aerospace Congress in Adelaide, Australia. This is part of a deep space project that NASA announced this year.

The goal of the project is to expand the reach of humans in the solar system by building a space station such as the ISS in lunar orbit.

The space station will be equipped with a small habitat for astronauts. In addition, he will also be able to accommodate dropped planes and serves as "a gateway to the deep space and lunar surface," NASA said. They also mentioned a project like this needed to make a cruise to Mars, to be achieved in the 2030s.

The agreement between NASA and Roscosmos means the two will work together to identify shared exploration goals and also set technical standards for setting up aircraft belay systems and life support.

Interfax, Head of Roscosmos, Igor Komarov said that the first module for the space station on the moon will be built around 2024-2026.

He also said the agreement provides opportunities to other countries, such as China, India, Brazil, and South Africa, to contribute to this project, if NASA and Roscosmos agree.

However, NASA's plans for a deep space exploration project are no more than plans. The final agreement to create a space station on the moon will require deeper research. There is a possibility, the plan can not be realized.
