Krzanich said he was committed to supporting the US manufacturing industry, but he disagreed with Washington's response to a protest in Charlottesville that led to a death. Without naming the president, he criticizes people who are more focused against critics than making progress.
"I resign to point out the big problems caused by our politically divided state on a variety of important issues, including the necessity to address the decline of the American manufacturing industry," Krzanich wrote, as quoted by CNET. "Politics and the political agenda have put aside the importance of building an American manufacturing base."
"I resign because I want to encourage progress, while many people in Washington are more interested in attacking those who disagree with it," he wrote. On Monday, Kenneth Frazier, CEO of Merck, a giant pharmaceutical company and Kevin Plank, CEO of Under Armor, a wearable manufacturer, also resigned from the American Manufacturing Board.
The CEO's third decision was a continuation of the criticism that Trump received because it did not clearly mention Ku Klux Klan, Neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups as the cause of the chaos that occurred in Charlottesville, Virginia over the weekend in a mass deployment. Trump said, "We strongly condemn the form of hatred, bigotry and violence from many parties."
Krzanich is not the first CEO to quit the Trump board. In June, Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and SpaceX, also resigned as a US-sanctioned board member withdrew from the Paris Treaty on climate change. Former Uber CEO Travis Kalanick also left the board in February in response to the immigration ban.
