Google is testing new options that allow users to mute websites permanently inside the Chrome browser. This will create a website that automatically loads videos with sounds that may soon become a thing of the past.
Chrome introduced an indicator to mark tabs of guilt a few years ago. The
feature has long been needed and now the developer team is testing this
mute option in the latest experimental 'Canary' version, according to
Google developer François Beaufort.
It looks very easy to use. Just click on the security status located to the left of the website address, and then the option to mute the site is in the list of details and permissions. The mute itself lasts until the setting is changed, which effectively makes it a sound ban.
While this feature will only appear in Chrome assuming that they are successful at launching this trial it can spur other browser companies to follow it.
