Apple Confirms Mac OS Will Support SteamVR
Until now virtual reality (VR) on new computers can be enjoyed by users of Windows-based devices with hardware Intel, AMD, and Nvidia.

What about Mac users? To experience this virtual world experience, Mac users must change their device to use HTC Vive or Oculus Rift.

Through the announcement that Apple did at WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) 2017, the company based in Cupertino, California, USA is going to explore the VR technology for iPhone and iOS. So quoted from page Venture Beat.

For your information, SteamVR is Valve's open source VR platform. This platform allows VR headsets to be used for playing games available on the Steam Store.

With this software, various VR devices like HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, OSVR HDK 2.0, and other PC-based VR headsets can be used on Mac.

To run VR-based games on Mac, Apple added support for external graphics cards. Reportedly, AMD is ready to introduce the Radeon RX580 which will be connected to the Thunderbolt port on the Mac.

This eGPU (external GPU) is currently available to developers only. Apple said it plans to provide this additional graphics card for general users by the end of the year.

In addition, Apple also unveiled Unity and Unreal support as part of the Metal API graphics (similar to DirectX on PC), which will allow developers to port their home-made games to macOS.
