Previously technology giant Apple calls the iPhone SE to be their first smartphone manufactured in India. Now the news has been confirmed officially, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

Citing Gizmochina, the report comes three months after the technology giant planned to set up a manufacturing plant in the Indian state of Karnataka. In the report, Apple was mentioned has completed testing of the factory assembly of the first iPhone in India that iPhone SE.

IPhone SE is the cheapest iPhone model and so Apple's first product made in India. The factory is run by Taiwanese manufacturer Winstrop Corp and located in Karnataka.

The Wall Street Journal cited a source from the Indian government responsible for this. Unfortunately, the source said, Apple has not commented on issues and speculation circulating in the public.

Apple in its statement said they have started the initial production of a number of iPhone SE in India and will start shipping devices to Indian domestic customers this month. Apple's internal sources reveal, the possibility of the device can arrive at the store at the beginning of this week.

With this development, India is the third country where the iPhone is assembled after China and Taiwan. Analysts say, Apple's move to build manufacturing in China, Taiwan, and India is the right thing, given Apple's sales in China is very high.

Given India is considered a potential market for Apple, the move to build a factory in India is also suspected to be a company's efforts to create cheaper iPhone products in India, because companies do not need to pay import taxes and other costs.
